Travel to Austria : Stillupp

Two reservoirs dam branches of the Ziller. Water from each runs through a powerhouse and then down to a third reservoir. From there, water can be released to a third powerhouse, but at periods of low demand purchased power is used to pump water back to the two upstream reservoirs. Come dinnertime, the water turns around and runs downhill through the turbines.

Looking up the Schlegeis Reservoir. Looks peaceful enough, but on a summer day you'd best count on sharing the scenery with a thousand people, most of them hiking vigorously enough to qualify as cardiac-health poster children. Austria's that way.
