Introduction to Singapore

There are two familiar ways to see Singapore: one, as a triumph of capitalist development; the other, as the creation, through capitalism, of a place too boring for words--clean, organized, hard-working, but a place where nothing matters except economic growth. There's something to the criticism, but Singapore is a place that most other Asians can only dream about.  Not bad for a few decade's work.
