Jenin is the northernmost town on the West Bank, a surprisingly bustling place close to the most fertile valleys on the West Bank.

The sign reads "Haifa Street," but beyond it there's a squat obelisk with--of all things--an airplane propeller. Any ideas?

German aviators fought and died here in the First World War. They had an airfield nearby.
