But the view in other directions is over barbarized courtyard houses. Notice the tree that's boxed in. You can make out the main hall on the north (to the right of the tree), as well as the flanking halls. The south hall no longer faces the courtyard, whose south side is built up. The district is Nan Luogu Xiang, designated by the city government in 1990 as a "traditional one-story courtyard housing preservation district." Well, it sounds good on paper.
