The controversial hamburger--oops! National Grand Theater--designed by Paul Andreu. It's the biggest project built near Tian'anmen since Mao's mausoleum and was said to be Jiang Zemin's monument--good reason for Chinese not to protest overloud. Here it's under construction, promising a 2,500-seat opera house, a 2,000-seat concert hall, a 1,200-seat theater, and smaller halls.
