Notes on the Geography of Zimbabwe: Great Zimbabwe: Photo 37
Here's the west entrance at 9 o'clock. It's been rebuilt twice in the 20th century, first in 1912 by St. Claire Wallace, the ex-policeman, then again in 1995 by the NMMZ (National Museums and Monuments of Zimbabwe) because it seemed about to collapse. It's impressive if it's the first entrance you see; if you see it again after seeing the others, it looks crushingly heavy.
