You can see why critics aren't prepared to go the UNESCO mile: it's pretty bland stuff. This bit was built in 1933 as Blythe's Building and housed drapers and a furniture store until it became the local branch of Farmers, a ubiquitous New Zealand chain store. They've moved on, but the building's discovered the Fountain of Youth and looks as good (maybe better) than it did when new.
