The Anglican church is St Paul's, with a grand marble staircase at the center of the Octagon and next to the Municipal Chambers. Replacing an older church built on the site in 1863, this one was consecrated in 1919, when the builders must have been exhausted. Wales writes that Edmund H. Sedding, the architect, "was such a wonderful architect...." Wales calls the church "an ageless building, clean, clear, and serving for the future."

See Hardwicke and Wales, p. 220.
