A block south, and still close to the river, we're at another Walter Granville production, this time the High Court, completed a year after Granville's death in 1871. The building is always said to be based on the cloth hall at Ypres, but some authors say it is most likely based on the Hamburg Rathaus, which in turn derived from Ypres--and which was designed by George Gilbert Scott, the highest British authority in matters Gothic.
