The temples of Vijayanagar were commercial magnets, and the major ones all had bazaars organized around broad, straight streets leading to the associated temple. The street here looks much too wide, but it was along this street that the temple cart was pulled on festival days, when many thousands would gather. The view here is eastward, with Matanga Hill on the right.
