The figure on the lower right is an intrusion; the larger one isn't. It shows the Buddha offering his son Rahula the boy's inheritance. A kingdom? Not a prayer. Instead, the boy gets a begging bowl. How do you think that would have gone over? I'm betting that in reality it would have been as little appreciated as it would be today.
