Speaking of churches, downtown São Paulo got some new ones in the 20th century. Here, for example, is the San Bento or Saint Benedict monastery, closely modelled on the Archabbey of Beuron, about 50 miles south of Stuttgart. The architect Richard Berndl, was a professor at Munich University.
